How To Apply

The Interior Girls Softball Association (IGSA) has an active scholarship fund! There is $3,000 available and monies will be allocated depending on the quantity and quality of applications received. In 2008 there were 4 scholarships awarded, one worth $1,500. In 2009 there were 2 scholarships awarded.  

Scholarship ELIGIBLITY includes:

1. Applicant must be attending one of the Fairbanks, North Pole, Eielson, or Delta area high schools.
2. Applicant must be a graduating senior in spring of 2010.
3. Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 3.0.
4. Applicant must have actively participated in high school sanctioned fastpitch softball for 3 years during their high school career.
5. Applicant must have actively participated in IGSA or Northstars sanctioned summer league fastpitch softball for 2 years during their high school career.
6. Applicant must be attending an institution of higher learning, i.e. a vocational school or two of four year college or university in the fall of 2010.

Scholarship APPLICATION must include the following:

1. A certified transcript. This can be mailed directly to our office from your school, or can be submitted with your application if sealed.
2. Application must show official verification of acceptance to an institution of higher learning. This would include an acceptance letter from the school you plan to attend, or a written statement from the institution.
3. Verification from a coach or coaches of your participation in high school and summer league softball. This should be in the form of a signed letter from your coach(es) stating the years of your participation.
4. Two letters of reference. These should be from a coach, counselor, teacher, employer, etc. These letters may not be from a relative.
5. A list of awards received, volunteer work, and/or other activities you have accomplished or participated in during your high school career. This could be submitted in the form of a resume if you so choose. Please also include a current address and phone number where you can be reached.
6. A single spaced, one page written letter to IGSA stating how softball has impacted your life.

Please do not include anything not required in your scholarship application. Scholarships are weighted heavily on your letters of reference and on your written statement.

Scholarship applications must be postmarked on or before Monday March 22, 2010. Scholarships postmarked after March 22, 2010 will NOT be considered.
